OWINGS MILLS — The Ravens got a boost to their pass rush by re-signing veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy to a two-year deal, according to multiple reports.
Van Noy initially signed with the Ravens in September and had a strong season, setting a career-high with nine sacks.
He showed that he can still play at a high level at age 32, and the Ravens were interested in bringing him back after he earned a base salary of $1 million last season. Van Noy confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has contacted him about re-signing with the team this offseason.
Clowney, 31, rejuvenated his career in Baltimore and tied a career-high with 9 1/2 sacks. Clowney, who was selected as the first overall pick by the Texans in the 2014 NFL draft, was able to parlay that performance into a two-year, $20 million contract with Carolina that can be worth up to $24 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Clowney is from Rock Hill, South Carolina, so it’s an opportunity to play closer to home in what could be his final NFL contract.
The team has high expectations for Ojabo to bounce back from a partially torn ACL that ended his 2023 season. Ojabo also dealt with a torn Achilles as a rookie and has played in only five games in his first two seasons. He appears to have a huge upside, but he has to prove that he can stay on the field.
The Ravens will still select a pass rusher or two in this month’s NFL draft.
