Ravens mum on Marcus Williams’ status
OWINGS MILLS — Ravens coach John Harbaugh declined to get into specifics as to why safety Marcus Williams did not play in a 29-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The decision was not injury-related.
“There’s a lot of things going on all the time and a lot of it is our business,” Harbaugh said on Monday. “There are some things we choose to keep to ourselves. That’s going to be one of them.”
Eddie Jackson replaced Williams in the starting lineup and played all 69 snaps. Jackson struggled and gave up the winning 38-yard touchdown to Cedric Tillman from Jameis Winston with just under a minute left. Jackson allowed a team-high 79 yards receiving, according to Pro Football Focus.
Ar’Darius Washington played 44 snaps (64 percent) and had three tackles, including one for a loss. Winston, who was making his first start since 2022, completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards with three touchdowns.
“They played solid football. We all want to make a few more plays,” Harbaugh said about Jackson and Washington.
Harbaugh declined to say whether Williams would play next week against the Denver Broncos, who are 5-3 and have won two straight games. Williams has 25 tackles on the season and has not forced a turnover in seven games. He does have one fumble recovery.
“Marcus is a heck of a player,” Harbaugh said. “I have the utmost confidence in him, as a player, a person, and a pro. He plays hard and practices hard. I anticipate him playing great football for us all season and very soon.”
