Lamar Jackson has Ravens’ offense humming

BALTIMORE — Quarterback Lamar Jackson has the Ravens’ offense playing at a high level.

The two-time NFL MVP is striving for perfection.

“We are just proving that we can win games,” Jackson said when asked about how well the offense is playing. “We’re just playing Ravens football right now. We are not proving that we are the best offense. There’s always room for improvement. We still had drives where we should have points on the board.”

Jackson had another strong game in a 30-23 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 323 yards with a touchdown and an interception,  producing a 114.7 passer rating. With the Commanders having to drop back in coverage, running back Derrick Henry found seams in Washington’s defensive line, running for 132 yards with two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers caught 9 passes for a career-high 132 yards.

“I thought Lamar had a great game,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “He was on point against man coverage. They were loading the box up against the run and playing a lot of man coverage, which they had not done a lot of throughout the course [of the season]. We had a lot of first- and second-down play-action passes up. Guys like Zay running crossing routes and sail routes away from those guys, and they were on our guys, but [they had] enough separation [and] Lamar dotted it.”

Jackson has spread around the ball, completing passes to six players. Tight end Mark Andrews had his best game of the season with three catches for 66 yards with a touchdown. Andrews now has 41 career touchdowns, tying Todd Heap for the most in franchise history.

“It feels great. When you get something like that you should credit your teammates,” Andrews said. “I’m blessed and fortunate to have a quarterback like that and teammates that surround me. We just want to continue to keep things going, to be patient, and good things will happen. This was a team win, and everyone played really, really well.”

The Ravens have won four straight and have the look of a contender.
