Lamar Jackson misses first practice heading into Week 2 Raiders game

OWINGS MILLS — Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed practice Monday for undisclosed reasons as the team began preparation for their Week 2 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh declined to disclose the reason for Jackson’s absence.

“We had a number of guys that weren’t out there – some personal [and] some physical,” Harbaugh said. “[The] injury report comes out Wednesday afternoon, so you’ll be better advised on that day regarding all those guys.”

Jackson had a busy game in the 27-20 loss to the Kansas Chief in Week 1.

He completed 26 of 41 passes for 273 yards with a touchdown and also ran for 122 yards on 16 carries.  Jackson was tackled on 13 of his 16 carries, hit in the backfield twice as he was attempting a pass, and was sacked once.

Jackson threw a 10-yard pass to tight end Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone as time expired that would have pulled the Ravens to within one point. After a review, the officials ruled that Likely’s toe was on the line. Jackson did miss a throw to a wide-open Zay Flowers in the end zone on the final drive.

Nonetheless, Harbaugh was impressed by Jackon’s performance.

“He doesn’t really surprise me, because I guess we’ve seen it so much, and it’s just been a gift to Baltimore and to the Ravens and to all of our fans and all of us,” Harbaugh said. “But being in there with him every day, I recognize how much it means to him, how competitive he is, what kind of a fighter he is.”

The other players who did not practice on Monday were cornerback Nate Wiggins, receiver/returner Deonte Harty, outside linebacker Adisa Isaac (hamstring), and outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (eye).
