OWINGS MILLS — Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris was hospitalized over the weekend for an acute illness that will require ongoing treatment for an extended period, the team announced Wednesday.
The team did not provide any other details.
The Ravens added George Warhop, who has more than 40 years of coaching experience, including 27 seasons guiding NFL offensive lines, to the staff.
“Coach D’Alessandris is widely respected and cherished in our organization. As he focuses on his health, we offer him unwavering support,” coach John Harbaugh said. “In the interim, we welcome George Warhop to our coaching staff. With expertise in guiding top-level offensive linemen, his dedication and strong character will continue to develop our offensive line during Coach D’s absence.”
Warhop has spent time as an offensive line coach with the Houston Texans (2022), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019-21), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014-18), Cleveland Browns (2009-2013), San Francisco 49ers (2005-08), Dallas Cowboys (2003-04), Arizona Cardinals (1998-2002), and Rams (1996-97).
Before coaching in the NFL, Warhop spent 11 seasons coaching offensive lines at Boston College (1994-95), SMU (1993), New Mexico (1990), Vanderbilt (1987-89), Kansas (1984-86) and his alma mater, Cincinnati (1983). He also coached in Europe for the London Monarchs (1991-1992).
Warhop played center and guard at Mount San Jacinto College in California before finishing his collegiate career at Cincinnati.
