OWINGS MILLS — With the 2024 NFL draft in the books, the Ravens are still looking to add talent and found a potential playmaker close to home.
The team signed former Maryland safety Beau Brade, who attended River Hill High School in Howard County, as an undrafted rookie free agent, the Terrapins football team confirmed.
Brade was an All-Big Ten honorable mention in each of his final two seasons at Maryland. Last season, he started all 12 games and led the team in tackles (75) for the second straight season.
Brade ranked second on Maryland with six pass breakups, four tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception. He was part of Maryland teams that earned three bowl victories over his time at College Park.
Brade, 6 feet, 203 pounds, was projected to be a third-day draft selection by several pundits. ESPN ranked Brade as the fifth-ranked safety in this NFL draft.
The Ravens need depth behind starters Kyle Hamiton and Marcus Williams.
The Ravens also drafted Purdue safety Sanoussi Kane, who started 26 games over the last two seasons. Kane had 161 career tackles, including 11 for loss, broke up 10 passes, and forced three fumbles.
Brade is excited for the opportunity to play for his hometown team in the NFL.
“That’ll be great too. I’d love to be a Raven. I grew up watching the Ravens, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, that whole defense. That’s probably part of the reason why I play how I do,” Brade told WMAR.
